Middle Creek and the Imps are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Middle Creek Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Cary Imps at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Middle Creek came up short against the Golden Hawks and fell 65-54. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Middle Creek in their matchups with the Golden Hawks: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite their defeat, Middle Creek saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brandon Ihle, who scored 18 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Obataobie Okafor, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Cary's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 66-46 loss at the hands of Green Level. While losing is never fun, Cary can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while the Gators are ranked 18th).
Middle Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Cary, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.
Everything went Middle Creek's way against the Imps when the teams last played two weeks ago as the Mustangs made off with a 62-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middle Creek since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
