If the Anderson Cubs were feeling good off their 69-37 takedown of the Central Valley Falcons last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Anderson took a serious blow against the Eagles on Friday, falling 82-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Anderson in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.
Chase Kalnins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Valley, scoring 23 points along with seven steals. Kalnins hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Heacock, who scored 15 points along with five assists and three steals.
Anderson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for West Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-12.
Anderson will be playing at home against the Miners at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Yreka is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for West Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. University Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge.
