The Riverbend Bears won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They suffered a rough 68-46 loss at the hands of Brooke Point. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Riverbend in their matchups with Brooke Point: they've now lost three in a row.
Brooke Point's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Apietu led the charge by scoring 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Sanusi, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Riverbend's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Brooke Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season.
Riverbend will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Massaponax at 7:00 p.m. Massaponax presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Riverbend in Virginia (Massaponax is ranked 74th, while Riverbend is ranked 260th). Brooke Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
