Basketball Recap: Mount Olive Christian Has No Trouble Against Cornerstone Christian Academy

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Mount Olive Christian on Monday. Everything went their way against the Cornerstone Christian Academy Eagles as Mount Olive Christian made off with a 43-23 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 55-38 last Monday.

Mount Olive Christian had a senior duo take command as Riley Morrow dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 boards and Abby Rodgers dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morrow has scored all season. Breanna Miles also deserves some recognition as she pulled down her first rebound of the season.

Mount Olive Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Kynnedy Newton and Caroline Newton certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Kynnedy posted three points in addition to 20 rebounds and three steals, while Caroline earned 17 points and three steals. That was a full 73.9% of Cornerstone Christian Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Mount Olive Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Cornerstone Christian Academy has also already played their next contest, a 50-14 loss against Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics on the 14th.
