The Rabun County Wildcats suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 81-60 walloping at the hands of Athens Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (59), Rabun County still had to take the loss.
Rabun County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cooper Welch, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. Huey Blalock was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Rabun County has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Athens Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rabun County will square off against Elbert County at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Athens Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Tallulah Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tallulah Falls will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while Athens Christian is ranked 208th).
