The Juanita Sanchez Complex Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 47-35 to Portsmouth. Juanita Sanchez Complex was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Portsmouth apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Portsmouth's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gyselle Mairs, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mairs has scored at least 25% of Portsmouth's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Moore, who scored 15 points.
Juanita Sanchez Complex has fallen quite a ways from their 21-4 record last season and are now at 0-3. As for Portsmouth, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Cranston West the next time they take the court. Portsmouth will host Cranston West at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Juanita Sanchez Complex will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
