Penn Wood hasn't had much luck against Interboro recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Patriots will host the Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. Penn Wood has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Penn Wood is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 15-0 to Chester.
Penn Wood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Smith, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, while Interboro put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Academy Park. The Buccaneers were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Knights. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buccaneers.
Jaxson Munro made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Interboro is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 1-3 otherwise. Munro was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Justin Ursone, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Interboro's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Penn Wood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Penn Wood might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Interboro when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
