The Franklin County Eagles will face off against the Cave Spring Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Franklin County's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Fleming. Considering the Eagles have won seven matchups by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooke Weaver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Madysen McCrickard was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kamari Holland, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cave Spring). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Blacksburg on Thursday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Cave Spring let Alijah Reeves and Rachel Hartman run wild. Reeves went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Hartman went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That double marked the first that Reeves has hit this season. Abigail Bradberry was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Cave Spring always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Franklin County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cave Spring, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Franklin County was able to grind out a solid victory over Cave Spring when the teams last played on April 2nd, winning 6-3. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
