The Winn Mavericks pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 82-59 walloping at the hands of Alexander. Winn has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Loss or not, Winn got some senior leadership from Jovan Jimenez who scored 19 points along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds and David Rodriguez who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Jimenez scored a full 32.2% of Winn's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Humberto Mu?oz was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 6 rebounds.
Winn's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Alexander, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Winn's road trip will continue as they head out to face Boerne-Champion at 12:30 p.m. on December 1st. Boerne-Champion presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Winn in Texas (Boerne-Champion is ranked 93rd, while Winn is ranked 531st). As for Alexander, they will head out on the road to face off against Cole at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Cole is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
