The Summersville Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 71 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Alton 75-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (68), Summersville still had to take the loss.
Loss or not, Summersville got some senior leadership from Garrin Greear and Andrew Buschmann. Greear dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds, while Buschmann. dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Greear has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paxton Hunter, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Summersville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Alton, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Summersville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-42 win vs. Dora on the 9th. Alton will be playing at home against Doniphan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Alton's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Doniphan has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
