The Alchesay Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ganado Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Alchesay has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while the Hornets will arrive with four straight wins.
Last Saturday, Alchesay was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-54 to the Mustangs. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alchesay in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brent Aday, who scored 15 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Texas James was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Even though Ganado has not done well against the Sand Devils recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Ganado managed a 55-51 victory over the Sand Devils. The victory was all the more spectacular given Ganado's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Sand Devils are ranked 132nd).
Alchesay has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Ganado, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
Alchesay was able to grind out a solid win over the Hornets in their previous meeting back in January, winning 62-54. Does Alchesay have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
