Pickens Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against  the Berry Wildcats on Friday, falling  51-28. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at  30-6.
 Despite the loss, Pickens Academy still got an impressive performance from   Griffin Hudson, who rushed for 123 yards.
  Ayden Lake Norris was nothing short of spectacular for Berry: he rushed for 254 yards and five  scores while picking up 14.1 yards per carry. Lake Norris' rushing production has been exceptional  as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 144  rushing yards dating back to last season.  Ashton Waltrip got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
 Pickens Academy has already played their next contest,  a  20-0  defeat against Linden on the 5th. As for Berry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  game,  a  68-42  win against Marion County on the 5th.
