Softball Recap: Wood-Ridge Wins Going Away Against Lodi

Wood-Ridge's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Lodi Rams. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 9-5 victory the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Natalia Nieves was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Nieves was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Stellato, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brielle Rivera, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

The win got Wood-Ridge back to even at 1-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Wood-Ridge is set to face off against their familiar foe Hasbrouck Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lodi will take on rival Wallington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
