The Northumberland Indians will face off against the Colonial Beach Drifters at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northumberland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.1 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Northumberland got the win against St. Margaret's by a conclusive 13-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
Ava Wilson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Braylin Beauchamp and Kierra Coleman did most of the damage at the plate: Beauchamp went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Coleman went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Meanwhile, Colonial Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They lost 23-5 to Northumberland.
Zayna Wolfe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Olivia Belle Cooke, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Colonial Beach's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Northumberland, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Colonial Beach's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Northumberland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Colonial Beach, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Northumberland keep running through batters, or will the Drifters buck the trend?
