Oak Hill is 8-2 against Wyoming East since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Oak Hill has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Oak Hill lost 12-2 to George Washington on Thursday. The Red Devils have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Oak Hill saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Saylem Blake, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
Wyoming East came out on top against Princeton on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Jarrod Phillips, who gave up just two hits to keep Princeton off the board.
On the hitting side, Owen Biggs was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zach Hunt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Wyoming East is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Oak Hill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wyoming East struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Oak Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against Wyoming East in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
