The Wilson Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Latta Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Latta took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wilson, who comes in off a win.
Wilson's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lower Richland with a sharp 12-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mark Law made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Kingston Cooper was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Wilson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Owen Starr was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Latta unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake View. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Latta saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was BW Berry, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Wilson has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Latta, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.
Wilson suffered a grim 20-2 defeat to Latta when the teams last played back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
