The NFL Yet Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. John Paul II Catholic. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, NFL Yet Academy saw an underclassman step up: STANLEY HOLLEY dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. HOLLEY scored a full 26.8% of NFL Yet Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. DANIEL NAJAR was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. John Paul II Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Layne Dickens, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Lopez, who scored 17 points.
NFL Yet Academy bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for St. John Paul II Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.
NFL Yet Academy will head out on the road to face off against Tempe Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John Paul II Catholic will be home for the holidays to greet Mohave Accelerated at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
