Tippecanoe Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Maconaquah Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Tippecanoe Valley beat LaVille 56-45.
Tippecanoe Valley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ian Cooksey, who scored 12 points along with five steals, and Stephen Akase, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyler Johnson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Maconaquah unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak last Friday. The match between Maconaquah and Tipton wasn't particularly close, with Maconaquah falling 91-74. While losing is never fun, Maconaquah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Tipton is ranked tenth).
Josiah Ball put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That was a full 40.5% of Maconaquah's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fuddy Kile, who scored 18 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Tippecanoe Valley's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. As for Maconaquah, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Tippecanoe Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Maconaquah in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 83-70. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tippecanoe Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
