Basketball Recap: Desert Mirage Takes a Loss

On Monday, the Desert Mirage RAMS came up short against the Desert Chapel Eagles and fell 46-33.

When it comes to explaining why Desert Mirage lost, don't look at Edy Espinoza. Despite the final result, he posted ten points along with six boards and six steals. Espinoza is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adan Martinez, who put up six points and three steals.

Desert Chapel found their leader in freshman Jayvon Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 26 rebounds. Those 26 boards set a new season-high mark for Garcia. Felix Ochoa was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Desert Mirage's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Desert Chapel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Desert Mirage wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-21 loss against Rancho Mirage on the 11th. As for Desert Chapel, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-13 victory against West Shores on the 10th.
