Washington is 0-8 against Lincoln since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Washington Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Lincoln Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Washington fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They snuck past Mission with a 31-26 victory two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Lincoln had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 53-12 victory over Mission. Considering Lincoln has won three matchups by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
MICHAEL WASHINGTON had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per carry. Lincoln also got a significant boost from Diego Cristerna, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.
Washington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Lincoln, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-3.
Washington was taken down by Lincoln 49-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Washington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
