Softball Recap: Bonham's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Bonham brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They came out on top against the Gainesville Leopards on Friday by a score of 12-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Warriors have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Annalyn Stafford made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Stafford was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Alayna Laisy and Katy Harrison did most of the damage at the plate: Laisy scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Harrison scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Harrison a new career-high. Bethany Dougan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Bonham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win snapped Bonham's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-11-1 record. As for Gainesville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Bonham will take on Denton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gainesville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sanger at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Leopards' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
