5A North Metro recap October 22, 2013
Fairview extended the longest winning streak in 5A North Metro this week by beating Pomona, 33-30. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Knights.
Legacy took down Boulder 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Matt Lynch threw for 64 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 80 yards in the win.
Anders Hill was a passing and rushing force as Fairview defeated the Panthers. He completed 24 passes for 277 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 36 yards. Hill's key target this week was Cameron Frazier, who caught 9 passes for 116 yards.
Jacob Knipp and Kyle Rush gave Ralston Valley a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Knipp threw for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Rush ran for 183 yards. Teammate Andrew Wingard added to the ground attack by rushing for 86 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Tom McCartney's team's Hill and Sam Martin have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Hill has thrown for 2,252 yards this season, while Martin has 63 catches for 1,061 yards. Chris Marquez from Pomona leads the league in rushing with 1,541 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Arvada West takes on Jay Madden's team. As it stands, the Wildcats are in fourth, while the Panthers are in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Arvada West takes on Pomona. Greg Whisler's team has allowed 157 points this season, while the Panthers have given up 162. The Wildcats allowed 41 points last week as they lost to the Mustangs.
