Basketball Recap: Timpview Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bountiful

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Timpview). They enjoyed a cozy 85-67 victory over the Bountiful RedHawks on Thursday. The Thunderbirds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the RedHawks, too.

Timpview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Openshaw, who went 9 of 11 en route to 24 points and seven rebounds. Those 24 points gave Openshaw a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dean Rueckert, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 20 points.

Bryson Heath and Charlie Smith certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Heath went 8 of 9 on his way to 21 points, while Smith posted 19 points. Smith has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Davey Howe, who had eight points.

The victory (which was Timpview's third in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Bountiful, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.

Timpview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 74-51 win against Pleasant Grove on the 3rd. As for Bountiful, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-55 victory against Viewmont on the 3rd.
