After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clarksville, the Springfield Yellow Jackets were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They skirted past Kirkwood 52-49.
Springfield found their leader in underclassman Shemauria Pope, who scored 22 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pope has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Micayla Harrison, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Springfield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. As for Kirkwood, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will face off against Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kirkwood, Kirkwood and Springfield will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
