The Heritage Christian Warriors will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Ontario Christian Knights at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Heritage Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 438th, while Ontario Christian is ranked 162nd).
Last Friday, Heritage Christian lost to Village Christian on the road by a decisive 30-14 margin. Heritage Christian was down 30-8 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Even if they lost, Heritage Christian's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Ryan Yenokian and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Ontario Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 50-30 walloping at the hands of Aquinas. Ontario Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-0.
Despite the loss, Ontario Christian had strong showings from Marquis Bradley, who picked up 152 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Hayden Slegers, who threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns.
The losses dropped Heritage Christian to 5-4 and Ontario Christian to 7-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Heritage Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ontario Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 165.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Heritage Christian was taken down by Ontario Christian 40-7 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Heritage Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
