The Swain County Maroon Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Rosman Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Rosman will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Swain County extended their winning streak to four last Thursday. The Maroon Devils were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Andrews.
Rylee Rawls made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hadley Shuler, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Carley Teesateskie, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Swain County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andrews only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rosman). They blew past Asheville T 17-1 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Like Swain County, Rosman also got a great game from a two-way player: Kiahna Sexton. She struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Sexton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those triples marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Rosman let Callie Garren and Anna Emerson run wild. Garren went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Emerson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Garren has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kynzie Sexton, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
Swain County's record now sits at 10-2. As for Rosman, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Swain County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Rosman struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Swain County came out on top in a nail-biter against Rosman when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Maroon Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
