The Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles will challenge the ALA - Ironwood Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
ALA - Ironwood will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Bourgade Catholic extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles skirted past Northwest Christian 17-15.
Bourgade Catholic let Brianna Torres and Esther Quezada run wild. Torres went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple, while Quezada went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits Torres has posted since back in March. Samantha Santillan was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Bourgade Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask ALA - Ironwood). They put the hurt on San Tan Foothills with a sharp 22-16 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Sabercats: they've now won eight in a row.
ALA - Ironwood got a massive performance out of Samantha Campano, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Campano is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Alleyne, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
ALA - Ironwood's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Bourgade Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 19-7.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bourgade Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. However, it's not like ALA - Ironwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .393. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bourgade Catholic took their win against ALA - Ironwood in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
