Lincoln-Way West got a great performance from Adam Gerl as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Gerl has posted since back in March.
At the plate, Jackson Mansker was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Conor Essenburg, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Lincoln-Way West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Downers Grove North only posted an OBP of .125.
Meanwhile, Bradley-Bourbonnais hadn't done well against Lincoln-Way West recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Boilermakers won by a run and slipped past the Warriors 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Boilermakers, who have now won four games in a row.
Cody Freitas made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Freitas was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other pitching news, Lucas Garrett looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
