Baseball Recap: Maple River Drops Highest Score of Season Against Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maple River). They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Kash Wede made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Maple River is undefeated when Wede posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Wyatt Birr was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Maple River: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Fox, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Maple River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton only posted an OBP of .333.

The win made it two in a row for Maple River and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
