The Somerset Academy Panthers waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat American Heritage 70-36 on the road. Given Somerset Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Patriots are ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anthony Henderson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Xavier Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
American Heritage lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Saeed Moghaddam Adames, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dia Bell, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Somerset Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for American Heritage, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-8.
Somerset Academy will take on the Bengals at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Piper knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Panthers like a good challenge. As for American Heritage, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. North Broward Prep will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
