Football Recap: Calvary Christian Piles Up the Points Against Southwest Georgia STEM Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calvary Christian). They breezed past the Southwest Georgia STEM Charter Aggies to the tune of 70-12 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Knights with their most commanding win of the season.

Calvary Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braxton Wilkinson out in front who threw for 215 yards and four TDs on only 13 passes. Jamar Williams helped Wilkinson out on the ground, picking up 84 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Calvary Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Williams, Peyton Saville, and Jackson Samara picked up one apiece. Calvary Christian got some further help from Darnelle Hamilton: he picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Calvary Christian, adding 22 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Williams, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from him.

Calvary Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points over those games. As for Southwest Georgia STEM Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Calvary Christian will look to defend their home field on Friday against Brookstone at 7:30 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Wilkinson and Broughton Branch. As for Southwest Georgia STEM Charter, they will venture away from home to face off against Atkinson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Aggies' offense will have their work cut out for them.
