Softball Recap: South Putnam Has No Trouble Against Eminence

South Putnam won the last time they faced Eminence and things went their way on Saturday too. The Eagles blew past the Eels 15-3. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Emelia Wells was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madison Carpenter was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elliana Cox, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

South Putnam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eminence only posted an OBP of .333.

The victory made it two in a row for South Putnam and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Eminence, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, South Putnam will be playing in front of their home fans against Owen Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Eminence, they will venture away from home to take on Bethesda Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.5 runs per game on average), something the Eels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
