Kemp is 0-10 against Mabank since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Kemp Yellowjackets will head out on the road to square off against the Mabank Panthers at 1:30 p.m. Kemp's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
On Wednesday, Kemp came up short against New Summerfield and fell 3-1.
Meanwhile, Mabank narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Kaufman 2-1.
Mabank was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Sofia Rodriguez and
Addison Stephens, who scored both of Mabank's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 18 so far this season.
Kemp dropped their record down to 1-9-1 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only scored one goal over those four contests. As for Mabank, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4-2.
Kemp suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Mabank in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Kemp avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
