Baseball Recap: Fort Knox Takes a Loss

Fort Knox was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-3 to the John Hardin Bulldogs. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

Eli Ortega put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Ortega was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Rayand Diaz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

Fort Knox's record now sits at 3-9. As for John Hardin, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Knox will challenge Green County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for John Hardin, they will face off against Butler County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
