Softball Recap: Kingsford's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Kingsford got themselves on the board against Menominee on Monday, but Menominee never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Maroons with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Flivvers have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kingsford let Anna Bortolini and Kailey Sundquist run wild. Bortolini went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Sundquist went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazz Shaughnessy, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win (which was Kingsford's sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Menominee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Kingsford will challenge rival Escanaba at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Menominee is set to take on their familiar foe Gladstone at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
