The Soddy Daisy Trojans will head out to challenge the Rhea County Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Soddy Daisy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Soddy Daisy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Hixson as Soddy Daisy made off with an 11-3 win. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Luke Camp looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Cooper Poe and Easton Mulder did most of the damage at the plate: Poe scored three runs while going 4-for-4, while Mulder went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That stolen base was Mulder's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Jackson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Soddy Daisy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Rhea County didn't have quite enough to beat Notre Dame on Tuesday and fell 7-6. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jax Schmitt and Corydon Butler did some serious damage despite the final result: Schmitt went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double, while Butler scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Brady Williams, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
The victory got Soddy Daisy back to even at 2-2. As for Rhea County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything went Soddy Daisy's way against Rhea County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Soddy Daisy made off with an 11-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Soddy Daisy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
