Marathon has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Whitman-Hanson Regional Panthers at 10:00 a.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact Marathon proved last Wednesday. They walked away with a 57-50 win over Archimedean. With that win, Marathon brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.
The match pitted two key players against one another: ADRIAN CRUZ and Joseph Vega. CRUZ had a great game and scored 27 points along with four steals. Meanwhile, Vega was balling out in the loss, scoring 29 points.
Meanwhile, Whitman-Hanson Regional scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Key West 63-35 on the road. The score was close at the half, but Whitman-Hanson Regional pulled away in the second half with 33 points.
Marathon's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7. As for Whitman-Hanson Regional, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
