Basketball Recap: Mackenzie Harrah's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Caney Creek over Conroe

If Caney Creek was feeling good fresh off their 50-27 takedown of New Caney two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Caney Creek Panthers took a 42-25 bruising from the Conroe Tigers on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1033rd, while the Tigers are ranked 436th).

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mackenzie Harrah, who posted eight points. That's the most points Harrah has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Cayle Mcgee, who put up seven points and five steals.

Caney Creek dropped their record down to 5-15 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Conroe, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Caney Creek will face off against Oak Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Conroe, they will venture away from home to take on The Woodlands at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Woodlands will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Conroe surely won't give up without a fight.
