The Saugerties Sawyers will head out to square off against the Roosevelt Presidents at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Saugerties is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Saugerties beat Wallkill 6-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sawyers.
Alaina Conrad spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Saugerties kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 10-0 to Valley Central. The game marked the first time this season in which the Presidents were not able to get on the board.
Saugerties pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Roosevelt's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Saugerties has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Roosevelt, though, as they've been averaging 14.2 hits. Given Saugerties' sizable advantage in that area, the Presidents will need to find a way to close that gap.
Saugerties was able to grind out a solid win over Roosevelt in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sawyers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
