After losing to the Pleasant Grove Spartans the last time they met, the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. John Carroll Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 victory over Pleasant Grove on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for John Carroll Catholic.
Despite the loss, Pleasant Grove still got an impressive performance from Aaron Tift, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Tift scored a full 47.9% of Pleasant Grove's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eithan Everson, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
John Carroll Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Pleasant Grove, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
John Carroll Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully John Carroll Catholic likes a good challenge. As for Pleasant Grove, they will head out on the road to face off against Minor at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
