Baseball Recap: Limestone Extends Winning Streak to Three

Limestone entered their tilt with Freeport on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Pretzels 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Landon Winter looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bryce Chapman and Dylan Bitner did most of the damage at the plate: Chapman scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Bitner scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most hits Chapman has posted since back in March of 2024. Gavin Kleist was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Limestone's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Freeport, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Limestone will challenge East Peoria at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Rockets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Freeport, they will head out to face off against Saint Viator at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
