Tonopah Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Valentine led the charge by scoring 18 points. Another player making a difference was Lars Durham, who scored 14 points.
River Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nysaiah Vargas, who scored 17 points along with six assists and two steals. Vargas is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Nash Hanrahan was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Even though they lost, River Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Tonopah Valley's win bumped their record up to 2-10. As for River Valley, they bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tonopah Valley will take on American Leadership Academy - West Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for River Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Yuma Catholic at 7:00 p.m. Yuma Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully River Valley likes a good challenge.
