Basketball Game Preview: Weiss Wolves vs. Bryan Vikings

The Weiss Wolves and the Bryan Vikings will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Weiss is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Hendrickson just ended the team's four-game winning streak last Monday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Hawks an easy 63-38 victory. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-16.

Weiss' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Krystyna Dennis, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Kayla Ketchens, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Ketchens has posted since back in November.

Even though they lost, Weiss smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 27 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Bryan has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harker Heights on Friday. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Weiss' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-8. As for Bryan, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
