Basketball Recap: Clearfield Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Clearfield won the last time they faced Viewmont and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Clearfield Falcons managed a 41-36 victory over the Viewmont Vikings. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Clearfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gretchen Higley led the charge by putting up ten points. The dominant performance gave Higley a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Xiyah Yarbrough, who posted three points along with seven boards and seven steals.

Viewmont's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Callie Peterson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Mara Mickelson was another key player, earning seven points and eight boards.

Clearfield pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Viewmont, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-6 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clearfield has already played their next game (against Northridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Viewmont is taking a road trip to square off against Roy at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Viewmont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.
