Volleyball Recap: Dow Gets Their First 'W'

Dow saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the North Branch Broncos, sneaking past 2-1.

Dow had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final set scores came out to 18-25, 25-18, 18-16.

North Branch's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Allysse Deshetsky, who had 17 kills and eight digs, and Addison Franklin, who had seven digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was Haley Henry, who had 11 digs and an assist.

Dow's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-1-1. As for North Branch, their loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-2.

Dow wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Marian on the 22nd. As for North Branch, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lutheran North at 6:30 p.m. on September 10. This will be the Broncos' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
