The Hackensack Comets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Northern Highlands on the road by a decisive 65-50 margin. While losing is never fun, Hackensack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Northern Highlands is ranked 44th).
Northern Highlands got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Freddie Kanning out in front who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Chapler, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Hackensack's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Northern Highlands, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Hackensack will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Glen Rock at 7:00 p.m. Glen Rock is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games. As for Northern Highlands, they will head out on the road to square off against Ramapo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
