Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hobgood Charter blew Mattamuskeet out of the water with a 48-20 final score. Hobgood Charter pushed the score to 39-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Mattamuskeet had little chance of recovering from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hobgood Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Betts, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals. Betts also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Kinsey Peel, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Bear Grass Charter scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ocracoke 67-5 at home. Winning may never get old, but Bear Grass Charter sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Bear Grass Charter found their leader in underclassman Callee Perry, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Aubrey Dotson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Hobgood Charter's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-7. As for Bear Grass Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hobgood Charter have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bear Grass Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
