The Dieterich Movin Maroons will take on the Neoga Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Dieterich's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Ramsey. The Movin Maroons haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Mason Lidy looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bryce Bohnhoff, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landen Keck, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run.
Dieterich always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Neoga, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City on Wednesday.
Malik Coy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Colin Blazich was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Dieterich's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Neoga, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dieterich has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Neoga struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Dieterich couldn't quite finish off Neoga when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will the Movin Maroons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
