The Hurricane Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Timpanogos Timberwolves at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Hurricane's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Lincoln County. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Faith Fuller was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Anna Lee also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Hurricane was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.
Meanwhile, Timpanogos made easy work of Provo on Thursday and carried off a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Timberwolves, who have now won nine matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Shaylie Lang was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Timpanogos got a massive performance out of Kaydance Pope, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kelci Gingras, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Hurricane's record is now 6-13. As for Timpanogos, their record now sits at 12-3.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hurricane has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Timpanogos struggles in that department as they've averaged .509. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
