Caston hasn't had much luck against Southwood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Comets will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Caston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
Caston fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against West Central on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 15-14. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 5-1 in the first period.
Carson Harness was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Logan Mollenkopf was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Southwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Peru, falling 26-3.
Southwood saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Coan Holloway, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Caston's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Southwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Southwood's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Caston has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Southwood, though, as they've been averaging only 2.5 strikeouts. Will Caston keep running through batters, or will the Knights buck the trend?
